"We adopted Justice in January of 2022 when we were living in Colorado Springs and looking for a companion for our cattle dog mix Rosie. He has been such a wonderful addition to our family! He loves to cuddle next to his people, lets you know when he’s ready for his walk (and won’t leave you alone until you give in to his demands!) and is amazing with our kids and their friends. We now live in NC where he gets to squirrel watch til his heart’s content! Thank you for allowing us to be his forever family! " -McPeak family

"This is wonderful Thumper adopted from your Humane Society. I knew you would remember him, because we can see what a well-loved boy he is. Not a mean bone in his body.
Only truly wonderful gentle people could have raised a boy so smart and so sweet -- and such a good jumper! His beautiful nature impresses everyone he meets.
He follows commands intuitively.
We saw how much you and the young people who worked there loved him, we almost felt bad taking him!!
He has made every day a joy. He is a great big brother to a tiny baby husky we got a year later, he is gentle with her, and he trained her for us, we never had to teach her. She followed him and he nudged her to follow his lead.
We can never thank you enough for being part of Thumper's story and caring for him so well! He makes us all healthier and happier. "

"Hello!!
We adopted Duffy from y’all in May, 2023! His new name Is Koda or Koda Bear. He is full of Energy and cuddles. He has quickly became a couch dog and sleeps on the bed at night. He is amazing with my 7 year old Pitbull and my 3 kids just kind of an aggressive kisser towards everyone.
Overall we couldn’t be happier with Koda and he has brought so much joy to our family and we can’t wait to watch him grow with us!

"Gunner, adopted in 2021, quickly became a cherished member of our family. He loves belly rubs, and exploring the outdoors, but his true obsession is playing endless hours of fetch. Gunner's unwavering loyalty, always by your side makes him an ideal companion. We're grateful to have found such a loving furry friend who has seamlessly become an integral part of our lives."
Thank you for being such good dog parents and making sure he is apart of your forever family!

I have a success story . I would like to share. We have had Gretel for six months now. She has become a part of our family. She gives all kinds of love including hugs. She has a ball that she loves and bone she chews. She has become protective of me and my wife. My wife has a prosthesis leg and Gretel is very good with her.We run and play and have fun. My wife fell down the other day and Gretel stayed there with her. Gretel helped her get up
P.S. thank you Fort Morgan humane society for giving us Gretel

Dexter's Success Story

12/23/2023

"We adopted Dexter to be a late-life companion to our 12-year old, also a rescue, pointer mix, who’d gone into major shut-down depression after losing her life-long best buddy. She and Dexter bonded immediately and he became her protector and also added three years of happy puppyhood to her life. Dexter is truly (and I know everyone says this) more than a dog. He is by far the gentlest dog we’ve known, and we’ve had a dozen rescues over two decades. He is also intuitive and empathetic like no other. We are convinced he’s not dog, but angel."
Thank you so much for the update! We love to see how our rescue dogs live a wonderful life. Thank you for taking such good care of Dexter!

Owen's Story

9/10/2023

On Fox 31- Nov. 24. 2022 by: Gabby Easterwood

"FORT MORGAN, Colo. (KDVR) — A woman who became ill couldn’t take care of her dog while she was admitted to the hospital, so the animal shelter where she adopted the dog stepped up.
Julieann Bevins has a major heart condition and earlier this year her health was declining fast. It was on July 5, after months of her health declining, that she knew it was time to see the doctor. But she didn’t know what to do with her rescue dog, Owen.
“I don’t have anybody I could leave him with to take care of him that I felt comfortable with, and I just got sicker and sicker, and it’s six months down the road and I can’t walk five feet without sitting down, I can’t breathe and I’m still trying to figure out something for my animal,” Bevins said.

Even though she’d had Owen for four years, Fort Morgan Animal Shelter said they’d take him in until she got better.
“Within a few hours, I coded in the ER. I was in the ICU for five weeks, still calling the shelter and thanking them and saying sorry it’s taking so much longer and offering them donations,” Bevins said.

“I spoke to a lovely woman, Holly, who wouldn’t accept my donations. I ended up having to go to a rehab center, where I am now, and relearn how to walk. Everything. I couldn’t even lift a glass to take a drink by myself,“ Bevins said.

The shelter never asked for money, checking in with Bevins periodically and letting her know Owen is doing just fine. The shelter’s kindness was a saving grace for Bevins.
“With everything we’re being thankful for, our families and our homes and our pets, just don’t forget the ones that don’t have that. I just want people to know this and to donate and think about fostering,” Bevins said.
Bevins will be released from her rehab facility and reunited with Owen next week." Link to Story

Update:
Owen reunited with his owner in June 2023. He had been with us for almost a year. And Bevins also adopted another dog when she picked up Owen.

Heidi success Story

Sunday Success Story from the Humane Society! Heidi is a two year old 50 pound German Shepherd, adopted from a shelter in 2022 after waiting three months for a home of her own. After 8 weeks of training, Heidi aced final evaluation and tests to be a certified therapy dog with an official vest and laminated ID card that says so.

Pretty soon Heidi and I will be going to local schools where we will work one on one with a counselor and child with problems who will talk to Heidi instead of the counselor. Heidi should be excellent at it as she has a very calm, and loving personality.

Yesterday, while entering local coffee shop, a loose dog ran up to us,
snapping and growling at Heidi who remained calm. Heidi is a great dog
who loves all, especially Pippin, the cat and me. We are lucky to have her. -Judy.
